Work

I am currently splitting time between Remote Ham Radio and TRMNL.

At RHR, we’re focused on making iterative improvements to the platform with LLM agents. Everything from weekly bulletins and a new marketing site, to adding server features, fixing long-standing exceptions, and improving performance and reliability.

At TRMNL, work continues on our open-source firmware, as we try to whittle down the PR backlog while still adding our own enhancements and refactors.

I just got back from Rails World 2026, where TRMNL sponsored. Our booth was mobbed non-stop both days. The vibes were off the charts - everybody was so positive and supportive of what we’re doing. It was a nice reminder that there are real, enthusiastic people at the other end of our work.

In August, I also went to HamX, the Northeast HamXpositions, to show off TRMNL. I sold a bunch of devices, and got to hang out with some old radio friends.

Vintage Computing

I’m still restoring a Macintosh Classic II. The power supply is giving me fits. I hope to get that back in working order soon, so that I can finally trace down the one remaining issue with the sound being wonky.

Games

I replaced the CR2025 in my original copy of Pokémon Silver and have been replaying through it on my Analogue Pocket. I forgot how much stuff was in this game! What a generational leap from Red and Blue.

Garage

Our garage remodel is nearly complete! The new polyaspartic flooring is finally installed, and I spent my birthday building storage for 32 totes of household stuff.

Side Projects

I’ve using Claude to rewrite a handful of my silly one-off web apps like VEOtags and a ham radio contest log database from Elixir to Go, primarily to reduce deployment dependencies and to save RAM on my single Digital Ocean VM.

This makes them effectively free to host, so I can keep them running indefinitely without ever having to think about them.

I’m also updating SOTA Goat for the iPhone Duo. I’m pretty happy with how that is turning out. By adapting it for the Duo, I effectively get a nice iPad layout for free, which I’d been avoiding for too long.
